Understanding Needs: Boost Remote-Work Productivity

A Bain study reported more than 40% of remote workers feel their productivity has dropped this year (Bain, 2020), while 41% of managers are skeptical as to whether or not remote workers can stay motivated in the long-term (HBR, 2020).

Help your workforce stay focused, motivated and effective.

Our Tip Sheet

  1. Understand Important Goals

Understand your employee’s long-term goals and connect daily performance with their future vision.

  2. Set clear and measurable work day goals with transparency and accountability.

Completed work should be shared, so when great work is accomplished by a superstar in the organization, others are motivated to meet that level.

  3. Anticipate and acknowledge mental health needs upfront.

With a high level of global stress, employees are likely to struggle. When an employee’s work or responsiveness slips, lead with compassion and work to find a solution upfront. Letting it slide a few times will perpetuate a decrease in productivity.

  4. Understand that all employees are different.

Stress and productivity dips will have different causes and can be mitigated by different strategies. A full solution takes this into account by addressing the potential causes and identifying which is having the most impact.

  5. Emphasize the collective vision for the organization.

In moments of stress, purpose can be a powerful motivator.

How We Can Help: VUCAD Survey

Meseekna’s VUCAD survey identifies the key elements of stress that are having the greatest impact on your employees. People differ in their responses to stress —identifying which VUCAD element (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity and delayed feedback) is impacting an employee allows for managers to identify specific actions that can support their decision-making and well-being during times of stress.

The survey can be delivered via email, SMS or web. After completion of the survey, data with targeted recommendations can be shared with management or employees directly. The survey consists of 20 questions that are validated, based on the science of metacognition. To access a demo of the survey, please contact us.
